Crisis Communication Certification

Transform How Your Team Responds in the Moments That Matter Most

On-demand learning, bi-weekly expert-led classes, plus real human review for your credential.
Trusted by Harvard, NATO, and Fortune 500 teams.

Master the skill of crisis communication at your pace, with live guidance from global experts.
Created and led by globally recognized crisis communication and crisis leadership expert, Melissa Agnes.

The Challenge Is Real.

  • Only 49 percent of organizations even have a crisis communication plan, and most find out too late that theory isn’t enough when the pressure is on.
  • You know how quickly a crisis can spread, how easily your message gets lost or misunderstood, and how costly wasted hours and eroded trust can be.
  • You’ve felt the frustration of knowing the right response, but struggling for leadership buy-in while every second passes and every decision counts.
  • Just one misstep can trigger backlash, cut credibility, and damage relationships at lightning speed.
  • Maybe you’re even carrying this burden alone; lacking the support and alignment you need to protect your team and organization.

None of this is sustainable. And you deserve better.

This certification goes beyond planning. You’ll build the mindset, skillset, and real frameworks to cut through chaos, win support, and turn uncertainty into lasting trust.

Crisis Ready® is recognized and valued by organizations worldwide

Where Most Teams Get Stuck

Traditional crisis communication programs focus on generic frameworks and message templates. They teach tactics, but rarely help you address emotional overload or cross-team misalignment.

  • Most “certified” programs end at basic theory, leaving you unsupported when the stakes and emotions run highest.
  • They overlook the human impact when your statement misses nuance, when legal blocks a message, or when exec buy-in is missing.
  • They don’t prepare you for real-world speed. A crisis that escalates in minutes while teams lose hours debating phrasing.
  • They fail to help you unite leadership, legal, HR, and comms, which means decisions and messages fracture under pressure.

You’ve seen how one wrong word—even when well-intentioned—can spark backlash, cancel credibility, and erode trust overnight.

That’s why this certification goes further. We don’t just teach “what to do.” We give you the frameworks, tools, and live support to actually implement and drive change across your organization.

What Sets Crisis Ready® Apart

Most crisis communication certifications cover what to say and when to say it. Crisis Ready® builds your ability to lead, respond with emotional intelligence, and drive culture-wide resilience. Here’s how we do it differently:

  • Every skill taught is rooted in real-world scenarios and designed for today’s rapid, high-stakes environment.
  • You receive ongoing, expert-led weekly classes where teaching, guidance, and direct feedback build your actual skills and confidence.
  • You create an actionable crisis communication program for your organization, not just theory or templates.
  • Emotional intelligence is central. Learn to respond to complexity, connect through emotion, and protect trust when it matters most.
  • Immediate application tools are included: fillable workbooks, scenario templates, message maps, reflection prompts, and peer support.
  • Cross-functional integration ensures that your team, leadership, legal, and HR are aligned and prepared to act together.
  • Your credential is earned through a human-reviewed Capstone Project, signaling true expertise and market-ready skills.
  • As a certification candidate, you receive VIP access to Crisis Ready® AI, giving you technology to immediately expand your organization’s high-stakes communication capacity while you build your and your team's skillset. This access supports training, practice, and real-time guidance so your team stays resilient and ready.

Modular Overview:

Shift your mindset. Anchor in your values. Set your foundation.
You’ll explore how your mindset shapes actions — and how actions shape outcomes in a crisis. You’ll learn to assess and align your team’s current mindset, and integrate your organization’s core values into every aspect of your crisis communication approach.

Get clear on what can go wrong — and what it means for you.
You’ll define what qualifies as an issue versus a crisis in your unique context, identify high-risk scenarios, and begin mapping the real disruptions your team needs to prepare for.

Structure your response — before the pressure hits.
You’ll define escalation pathways, clarify internal processes, and design a tailored crisis communication program that integrates across departments and functions — so everyone knows what to do, when, and how.

Master the human side of crisis communication.
You’ll learn how to recognize and respond to the emotions that crises trigger — in yourself, your team, and your stakeholders. From stress to overwhelm to despair, you’ll know how to connect through emotion, not just logic — and prevent the Crisis Response Penalty (CRP).

Shape your narrative and own the crisis.
You’ll learn how to layer messaging over time, communicate through complexity, and take a long-term view of narrative ownership. From strategy to scripting, you’ll craft communications that resonate, de-escalate, and build trust.

Make crisis communication a shared, sustained capability.
You’ll gain the tools to embed your program into your organizational culture, secure executive and cross-functional buy-in, and ensure crisis communication isn’t a silo — it’s a shared commitment across your ecosystem.

This is hands-on skill-building and team transformation, guided by global experts, proven tools, and cutting-edge technology. You get more than information. You build tangible skills, organizational trust, and real crisis resilience.

✅  You want more than a templated plan. You want deep crisis readiness, emotional intelligence, and a long-term capability.

✅  You value culture, integrity, clarity, and teamwork—especially in high-pressure moments.

✅  You already see that preparedness, trust, and connection are assets, not just buzzwords.

✅  You want support, guidance, and real feedback from experts as you build and lead your crisis communication program.

❌  You want to control the narrative at all costs, rather than build and maintain stakeholder trust.

More From Our Students...

We asked our students what their biggest takeaways from this course were. Here’s just some of their replies…

"The discussions were great and the exercise was amazing!"
"The mindset that "challenge" or "crisis" is always an opportunity to build relationship. I have employed that attitude to many situations already, and it has fundamentally changed my approach to these situations. Also, the worksheets, formulas and actionable takeaways are gold!"
"To do practice runs, to think about emotion when dealing with decision makers during times of crisis, and how to better partner with legal."
"One of the great lessons of this course was to think about crisis communication in a structured way, without forgetting emotions and communication with emotional intelligence. Combining the two worlds."
"As a risk manager (not a communications person), I found it very helpful in leading significant incidents and leading our ICS team. I have a much better understanding of our communications plan and the skills required, and feel better equipped to lead and train our ICS team and liaise with our CEO and board."

What Our Students Say...

“This course enabled me to build and hone a skill-set that frankly not many others are excited to take on, therefore increasing my value as a leader in my organization.”
